Ford Foundation: BUILD Initiative

Silverman Strategies has worked with the Ford Foundation since December 2020 to build a campaign to encourage funders to share more power, trust, and respect with grantees and their communities—in service of better results for all involved. Working with Cascade Philanthropy Advisors, we have developed a message framework and recruited influential sector leaders to act as spokespeople. Launching later in 2021, the campaign will include video and social media promotion targeting foundation executives and board members.

Earned Media

Daniel has garnered national media for campaigns and organizations for 30 years. His approach focuses on finding existing news stories and narratives that can serve as fertile turf to reach and move audiences. Successful projects include:

  • Garnering broad coverage across traditional media platforms for 2004 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Wangari Maathai

  • Garnering New York Times coverage for the James Irvine Foundation’s efforts to be more transparent about failures and more honest about impact

  • Garnering statewide coverage for the launch of Linked Learning, a major high school reform movement in California
